An Up-Close Look At The Coach's Fall 2014 Handbags

As any fan knows, Coach is in a state of flux right now. Gone is longtime creative force Reed Krakoff, and in his place, accessories guru Stuart Vevers, late of Loewe and Mulberry, has arrived to take the stalwart American accessories brand in a more fashion-forward direction. We brought you exclusive photos of Coach Fall 2014 back when the brand staged its first-ever runway show at New York Fashion Week in February, and last week, we had an opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with the bags, as well as the collection’s excellent outwear, knits and shoes.

Because of Coach’s deep American roots, Vevers chose to use workwear and the American West as his chief inspirations for fall. How aggressively those inspirations show themselves depends heavily on the bag – some have beautiful, subtle studding over pebbled leather, others are covered top to bottom in oversized turnlock elements that feel like they’re working too hard to set a tone. The good news for bag lovers, though, is that the much-loved Borough is back in versions both printed and embellished, and there’s a new line of ultra-light shoulder bags, inset with chain detailing and finished with trendy fringe, among others.
