Coach 1941 Cements Its Cool Girl (and Boy) Transformation With Pre-Fall 2017 Bags

In his relatively short time at the creative helm of Coach, Stuart Vevers has done a more-than-convincing job turning the company from an accessories brand into a full-on fashion label. That’s largely due to his creation of Coach 1941, which is the line shown at the brand’s runway shows. It’s more fashion-forward and pricier than the label’s other wares, and it gives Vevers an opportunity to flex his design muscles and reach consumers who are looking for a premium product.

Coach showed its Pre-Fall 2017 Coach 1941 collection (which also marks the brand’s 75th anniversary) for both women and men in New York on Thursday, and the clothes and bags were the next step in the quirky, eclectic look that’s pushed the brand in a more experimental direction. In addition to the sublime outwear that’s become one of the brand’s biggest non-accessory calling cards, the collection included lots of vintage-inspired pieces, many emblazoned with old-school NASA logos or the brand’s Rexy dinosaur mascot.
