Glenmorangie, the renowned Highland single malt whisky maker, has unveiled a new limited-edition expression, A Tale of Tokyo, drawing inspiration from the vibrant and multifaceted city of Tokyo. This release is part of the brand's ongoing exploration of unique flavor profiles and cultural influences.

The creation was led by Dr. Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie's Director of Whisky Creation, whose fascination with Tokyo's captivating contrasts served as the muse. "During my travels sharing Glenmorangie around the world I’ve gathered new inspirations for whisky creations, and Tokyo has always been one of my favorite places," Lumsden explains. "I’m fascinated by the contradictions between its bustling streets and tranquil gardens, ancient and modern buildings, its many sensory experiences and its culture, and this made me wonder whether I could capture my experience of Tokyo in whisky form."

Flavor Profile

A Tale of Tokyo is a unique single malt that evokes the wonders of the Japanese capital, marrying bold flavors with a subtle softness. The whisky offers a sensory journey: peppery notes meet cherries and coconut, while orange zest fuses with incense and sweet oak. The finish brings classic Glenmorangie flavors of mandarin, almond, and marzipan, delivering a harmonious and complex tasting experience.

Artistic Collaboration with Yamaguchi Akira

To further capture the essence of Tokyo, Glenmorangie has partnered with acclaimed Japanese artist Yamaguchi Akira. Akira has contributed his creative perspective to adorn each bottle and its packaging. Juxtaposing famed landmarks from both Tokyo and the Highland Distillery, Akira presents an intricate work that unites his maximalist style with Glenmorangie's technicolor palette.
